Service Description
This 72-Hour Wilderness First Responder course is the industry standard for professionals in the outdoors and is a great option for anyone interested in being able to manage emergencies in wilderness environments. You will learn from experienced instructors who have wilderness and urban emergency medical backgrounds. The class will include 3 days worth of online modules, followed by 5 days of in-person sessions comprised of classroom and hands-on, scenario based learning. Wilderness First Responder curriculum includes: -Medical/Legal Considerations -Patient Assessment System -Major and Minor Trauma -Medical Issues in the Backcountry -Environmental Hazards -Coordinating an Evacuation -Communication -Incident Command Concepts -Evening/Night Scenario -Patient Care as a Team -How to Plan Ahead and Prepare -Packing a First Aid Kit Students will receive a WFR certification from the Mountain Training Network, STOP THE BLEED® Certificate, an OSHA approved First Aid/CPR card, Cal-EMSA Epi Auto-Injector Cert, and the confidence to provide high-quality care in the backcountry. *If you are currently an EMT/Paramedic (NREMT or CA), you may use this course as an upgrade to W-EMT and receive 72 CEU's. MTN and NOLS have a reciprocity agreement. This means should you choose to, you can re-certify this WFR with NOLS in the future.
